According to their initial investigation, the incoming mains power supply tripped this morning, disconnecting IFL2 from the National Grid, while their UPS backup systems (which take over in this situation) failed with a number of faults. At this time, they are unsure which of the two events caused the outage (i.e. the power trip damaged the UPS, causing it to fail or the UPS failed and tripped the mains supply). However, they have engineers for both systems on their way to look at, and fix, the relevent systems. Until the UPS system has been checked and confirmed operational by the engineers, only mains and generator backup supplies are available. After investigation, they have concluded that the breaker failed due to a mains power surge, which in turn was caused by the exceptional weather conditions yesterday. Adjustments have been made to allow more flexible over usage/surges before it trips, while the UPS systems have been given a clean bill of health and restored to full working order. As of now, all systems and services should be fully returned to normal and we no longer expect any further issues related to this incident.
