From jonathan at jabwebsolutions.co.uk Thu Aug 2 07:14:04 2007 From: jonathan at jabwebsolutions.co.uk (Jonathan Wright) Date: Mon Nov 19 03:48:26 2007 Subject: [jab-chat] Changes to Maestro Payments Message-ID: <46B1762C.4020801@jabwebsolutions.co.uk> ** Changes to Maestro Payments Until further notice, we are unable to accept Maestro (Switch) cards due to a change in the policy set by MasterCard International for companies who take payments on-line. At their request, and with immediate effect, we can now only process new payments on Maestro cards when they are accompanied by a "3D Secure" verification. A "3D Secure" verification is a further level of security where the card holder creates a password or pin code associated with their card specifically for on-line payments. Commonly known as "Verified by Visa" and "MasterCard SecureCode", this is an optional setting designed to aid fraud protection. This new policy requires us to a submit a check for "3D Secure" with your card issuer and if it is enabled on the card, it must be processed as part of the payment. This check is not optional and must be carried out in order to process the card. Although a lot of work has being carried out by card issuers and card processors to implement this, it is complex system: Originally set to be introduced on July 1st, Protx and Maestro moved it back a month to August 1st, allowing more time for companies and software providers to work on their implementation. However, despite working towards this goal, ModernGigabyte (the software developers of our billing system, ModernBill) have not yet released an updated version of the software to allow this check. Therefore, until an updated release of ModernBill has been made available with the required functions in place, MasterCard will no longer allow us to take Maestro payments from our customers. Customers with cards already on file, from whom we have previous taken a successful payment, may still be able to use their card as we have a recorded history with that card. In theory, this change will only affect new cards added to our system and/or new customers wishing to use Maestro cards. However, we cannot guarantee that it will not affect all Maestro cards (past and present). As soon as ModernGigabyte have further information on the status of it's development, and we have details on when we can update our systems, we will release a further announcement. In the mean time, if you do still wish to use your Maestro card for payment, we kindly ask that you pay through PayPal. PayPal will take payments for all Maestro cards (as well as all other major credit & debit cards) on our behalf regardless of whether you have a PayPal account or not. For further details on how to pay for your invoice using PayPal, please take a look at the following Knowledgebase article: - How do I pay for my invoices using PayPal? http://www.jabwebsolutions.co.uk/knowledgebase/80 We would like to express our sincere apologies for the disruption this may cause. Our Billing Team are always on hand should you have any questions or concerns regarding this, and we thank you for your patience and understanding during this change. Finally, Protx are also making changes to the way that card payments will be processed, having discussed their processes with all current card issuers (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc.). Further details of these changes and their effects will be released as a later date. -- Jonathan Wright (Technical Director) jonathan@jabwebsolutions.co.uk -- JAB Web Solutions Limited t: 0800 043 0153 -- 029 2000 6494 (Direct) f: 0870 622 0158 a: Suite 145 61 Wellfield Road Cardiff CF24 3DG -- This email & it's attachments are confidential (if is not address to you, their disclosure and/or distribution is strictly prohibited), may contain personal views which are not those of JAB Web Solutions (unless specifically stated) and responsibility for loss or damage caused by them cannot be accepted by JAB Web Solutions. -- JAB Web Solutions Limited is registered company 5191094 in England & Wales and is also registered with HMRC for VAT (number 840666814) -- http://www.jabwebsolutions.co.uk/ From jonathan at jabwebsolutions.co.uk Thu Aug 2 07:20:29 2007 From: jonathan at jabwebsolutions.co.uk (Jonathan Wright) Date: Mon Nov 19 03:48:26 2007 Subject: [jab-chat] Changes to Maestro Payments (Update) Message-ID: <46B177AD.7080604@jabwebsolutions.co.uk> Apologies, but the correct URL for the Knowledgebase article on how to pay using PayPal is as follows: - How do I pay for my invoices using PayPal? http://www.jabwebsolutions.co.uk/knowledgebase/82 Our Billing Team are always on hand should you have any questions or concerns regarding anything to do with your account, and we again thank you for your patience and understanding during this change. -- JAB Web Solutions Limited is registered company 5191094 in England & Wales and is also registered with HMRC for VAT (number 840666814) -- http://www.jabwebsolutions.co.uk/ From jonathan at jabwebsolutions.co.uk Sat Aug 11 13:49:29 2007 From: jonathan at jabwebsolutions.co.uk (Jonathan Wright) Date: Mon Nov 19 03:48:26 2007 Subject: [jab-chat] WHMCS Announcement Message-ID: <46BDB059.9060605@jabwebsolutions.co.uk> ** WHMCS Announcement At JAB Web Solutions, we are always looking to provide you with the best in customer service, and as such, are never complacent in the systems that we have or the way in which the company is run. As some customers may know, through dealing with us, we have been looking over the last few months at upgrading our billing systems (ModernBill) from version 4 to version 5. The upgrade between version 4 to version 5 of ModernBill is complex and has left many companies who have completed the update with many serious outstanding issues. A main concern of ours is the migration of customer data as, for example, we would be unable to copy across certain settings and the migration does not allow previous invoice(s) and payment information to be copied. As some customers are aware we have also experienced problems with ModernBill relating to the changes in regulations covering '3D Secure' and it's interaction with ProTX. With this in mind (and combined with the above factors), we have decided against upgrading ModernBill. Instead, we have assessed many of the alternative accounting systems available, after much review & testing, we are pleased to announce that we will be changing to WHMCS. Some of the more useful features of WHMCS include: - Ability to combine both our billing systems, giving customers a single account for all their packages and domains. - Improved email support, including a viewable history of the emails sent, by us, to you, regarding your billing account. - PDF invoices and receipts attached to emails which include a full break-down of each invoice. - Ability to request a domain or package's cancellation from within your billing account. - Full 3D Secure support, helping to protect everyone from on-line fraud; and - Improved integration with our website. We are well on the way to going live with WHMCS, and are working on finalizing time-scale of the change over. Further details regarding this will be released at a later date. We are making this announcement to keep you up to date, as a number of changes will be happening before it's release which we need to inform you about. Firstly, we will be writing and posting a number of Knowledgebase articles over the following weeks relating to the new system and how to use it (for example, how to pay a bill using your credit card & how to update your contact details). These articles are important as will assist you in moving around, and working with, the new system once it goes live. To make sure that you do not confuse the new articles and the current ModernBill ones, we will do our utmost to clearly outline for which system the article is for. Secondly, we will be running a number of dry run tests on the migration of customer data from ModernBill to WHMCS before the system goes live. These dry runs will primarily focus around copying the data from the ModernBill systems into WHMCS and will help us to make sure that everything is correctly configured. We will make every effort to minimize the possibility of any emails being released from WHMCS to you, however, there is always a small risk of some of these e-mails slipping by and making its way to you. Any emails from WHMCS will have notices on them stating that they are from our test system and should be ignored, but if you do have any questions regarding them, please feel free to contact us at any time. We'd like to thank you for your business and continue to look forward to providing you the best in customer service. If you have any queries relating to this change, or have any concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time. -- JAB Web Solutions Limited is registered company 5191094 in England & Wales and is also registered with HMRC for VAT (number 840666814) -- http://www.jabwebsolutions.co.uk/ From jonathan at jabwebsolutions.co.uk Sun Aug 12 14:58:39 2007 From: jonathan at jabwebsolutions.co.uk (Jonathan Wright) Date: Mon Nov 19 03:48:26 2007 Subject: [jab-chat] SpamAssassin Updates Message-ID: <46BF120F.20900@jabwebsolutions.co.uk> ** SpamAssassin Updates We've recently been experiencing problems with the 'Rules-Du-Jour' aspect of our Spam filter set-up. This issue has prevented it from downloading updated sets of rules, and therefore it has not been as efficient at detecting newer styles of Spam as we would have liked. We have therefore removed 'Rules-Du-Jour' and replaced it with a completely new version of the program across all our servers. All rules are now successfully updating and we hope that you'll notice an improvement in the detection of Spam on accounts with filtering enabled. Currently available as standard on all JAB Web Solutions packages using Dell servers, RAID allows two hard-drives to be used as one, with each always retaining an exact copy of the other. Should one fail, it will be disabled, forcing the other to take over. This will then allow us to check, diagnose and repair (or replace) the failed hard-drive before returning both disks back to the mirror and restoring protection. This will require downtime on both servers (at different times) of between one & four hours. Scheduled for September 9th (week Sunday), and starting at 22:00, we hope to have both service completed by 04:00.
