A Dell Engineer will be arriving tomorrow with the replacement drive. However, as a precaution, we will perform a full server backup overnight tonight (over and above the standard backup we perform each night), which will result in a higher-than-normal load on the server while this is completed. From 16:00 tomorrow (8th July), we will need to shut down the server, replace the hard drive, and then re-integrate the new hard drive in to the current RAID array. Again, there will be higher-than-normal load while the RAID array is rebuilt. Only while the server is switched off will it not be accessible. During all other times you can access the server although it may be slower than normal. We apologise for any disruption that this may cause, however this is preemptive replacement to prevent any future issues with hard-drive. The server has been booted and is running, however, as stated it is in the process of rebuilding the array (mirroring both drives) during this time the server will be experiencing a higher than normal load, which may make it slower than usual. We are estimating that this should be completed within the next 20-30 minutes, once the rebuild has been completed and both drives are suitable to resume RAID formation the server will be rebooted (a restart which should not last more than 5 minutes) back into RAID formation. We will be running a few checks once the server has been rebooted to make sure that all is as it should be and the RAID formation is working correctly. Pending no further problems beta.jabservers.co.uk should return to normal working status within the 40-50 minutes. The disruption to your website(s) and your clients websites should not have been more than 20 minutes of down time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience during this matter it has been greatly appreciated. This is due to a communications issue with our transit provider which is resulting in packet loss over the connection ? not all 'chunks' of data are reaching the server, and as a result they are having to be re-sent. This is affecting both inbound and outbound traffic. We have been aware of the problem since yesterday, and, although initial attempts at correcting the problem seamed to work, we are still experiencing issues this morning. We working with our provider to resolve the situation, however it is proving problematic. The server has been booted and is running, however, as stated it is in the process of rebuilding the array (mirroring both drives) during this time the server will be experiencing a higher than normal load, which may make it slower than usual. We are estimating that this should be completed within the next 20-30 minutes, once the rebuild has been completed and both drives are suitable to resume RAID formation the server will be rebooted (a restart which should not last more than 5 minutes) back into RAID formation. We will be running a few checks once the server has been rebooted to make sure that all is as it should be and the RAID formation is working correctly. Pending no further problems beta.jabservers.co.uk should return to normal working status within the 40-50 minutes. The disruption to your website(s) and your clients websites should not have been more than 20 minutes of down time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience during this matter it has been greatly appreciated. This is due to a communications issue with our transit provider which is resulting in packet loss over the connection ? not all 'chunks' of data are reaching the server, and as a result they are having to be re-sent. This is affecting both inbound and outbound traffic. We have been aware of the problem since yesterday, and, although initial attempts at correcting the problem seamed to work, we are still experiencing issues this morning. We working with our provider to resolve the situation, however it is proving problematic.
